Installed RP backflow prevention device in Burnaby home
This is the west coast; we get 40 or more inches of rainfall in a year. Do we really need a sprinkler system?

If the rain came on a consistent schedule at the exact same amount every time, then you probably would not. However, nature is unpredictable. To ensure a healthy, beautiful yard and garden you want to make sure that your property is receiving regularly timed and evenly measured amounts of water. In the dry season when there is little or no rain, your plants can experience stress and damage after a few days without water.

Will an automatic sprinkler system use more water than I am currently using?

No, in fact, automatic sprinkler systems may save you water. A good, maintained system will be more efficient and applies only the specific amount of water required to keep your lawn and garden lush and healthy. Smart controllers will allow you to schedule watering times, while rain shut off sensors will know when it is raining and shut off your system during those periods. Seal-o-matic sprinkler heads can also eliminate any excess run off water that pools from the head, saving the water for the next watering period.

Does having a sprinkler system save time?

Yes. You will no longer have to spend your leisure time watering the lawn. Your new system will do all the work for you. Even while you are away from home!

Is an automatic sprinkler system as accurate as watering by hand?

An automatic sprinkler system is more efficient at watering as it will be designed by irrigation professionals for each area of your lawn and garden using specific products designed to water lawns, shrubs, trees and plants.

What are the components of an automatic sprinkler system?

The typical sprinkler system is comprised of a controller, also referred to as a timer (the brain of the system), valves (which open and close, controlling the flow of water to the underground irrigation pipes), and sprinklers (which distribute the water above ground to your lawn and garden). Often, a backflow device is encouraged or mandatory (depending on your local legislation). This stops any contaminants from ‘backflowing’ into your drinking/tap water. Things like rain shut off sensors, flow sensors, and drip irrigation zones can be added to customize your system to meet your needs.

How much will a good sprinkler system cost?

The price of a system is dependent on many factors, property size, type of landscaping, number of zones, products used and special designs. Able irrigation will provide you with a quote for installation before the work is done.

Will I have difficulty operating my sprinkler system?

With advanced smart controllers and their apps, setting and adjusting your water schedule is easy. Our technicians will make any necessary adjustments after the installation of your system and during our seasonal services as well.
