Three Main Methods of Residential Irrigation

There are several irrigation brands out there that manufacture irrigation products for different applications. There are several factors that help to determine which style of irrigation is the right choice. The three main methods of irrigating are an oscillating rotor sprinkler, fixed spray pop-up sprinkler, and micro drip irrigation

Oscillating Rotor Sprinkler

Rotor sprinklers are best suited for large landscaped or turf areas where the pressure of the spray won’t damage the vegetation. Mosty used for large turf areas, rotors are an effective way to cover a large area with minimal materials and number of sprinkler heads required.

Fixed Spray Pop-ups

Fixed spray heads are ideal for smaller areas of both landscape shrub and turf grass. Irregular shaped areas of your yard will likely require spray heads for adequate coverage and the least amount of wasted water.

Drip Irrigation

Drip irrigation is becoming more and more common for landscape applications. It’s main advantage is the high efficiency of watering due to its targeted wetting area. Inline drip is highly effective for banks with shrubs and ground cover as there is minimal runoff with the slower application rates of drip irrigating. Hanging baskets and patio pots can also be effectively watered with drip irrigation.
